Welshpool-based KW Brickwork Contractors Ltd built the brickwork on these two-storey detached and semi-detached homes in a hillside setting. The houses are in multi red facing brick with buff stone band courses, heads and sills, brick chimneys and front gables, shown from finished brickwork to near completion.
What the photos show
These photos show two-storey detached and semi-detached homes on a new-build development, with wooded hills behind. The house types share a strong detail: a buff stone band course running around the building at first-floor level, with matching stone heads and sills to the windows.
Brickwork finished, windows to follow
The first photos show a detached house with the roof on and the brickwork complete, but the window openings still empty. The stone band, heads and sills are set in the multi red facing brick, and the coursing works to them all round the building. The gable end and rear elevation show the same finish.
Near completion
The later photos show homes close to handover: windows fitted, porch canopies up, roof solar panels in, and fencing round the plots. The semi-detached pairs have brick chimneys on the ridge, and one pair has a front gable with a small stone vent detail near the apex. Another has a tiled bay window. The rear elevations show French doors and bi-fold openings set into the brickwork.
Why the stone band matters
A continuous stone band is an unforgiving detail. It has to sit level across every elevation, meet itself cleanly at every corner, and line up between the two halves of a semi-detached pair. The brick courses above and below have to work to it without awkward cuts. When it's right, the street looks well built. When it isn't, the error is visible for the life of the house.
