Bungalow plots from DPC to completion, Mid Wales / Shropshire border
Welshpool-based KW Brickwork Contractors Ltd built these bungalow plots on a new-build housing development, from the first courses above DPC to finished homes with garages. The photos show the facing brick outer leaf and blockwork inner leaf going up together, and completed bungalows in red multi facing brick.
What the photos show
These photos follow bungalow plots on a new-build housing development from low walls just above DPC to finished homes.
From DPC
The early photos show the outer leaf of red facing brick and the inner leaf of grey blockwork rising together from DPC, with door frames propped in position and brick piles set out around the plot. Window openings are formed as the walls go up. In one photo the cavity between the two leaves is visible along a long wall.
Walls up to plate
Next come the walls built to window-head height and beyond, with meter box recesses and their flashings built into the facing brick, and a skip marked "Brick" alongside. The corners are sharp and the facing brick is clean.
Completed bungalows
The later photos show finished bungalows with hipped, grey-tiled roofs and cream window frames. One has a detached garage and a new tarmac drive, and another has a buff stone band. A long side wall shows a plain run of multi red facing brick with air bricks near the base and one small window. On an elevation like that there's nothing to hide behind: the bond, gauge and joints all have to be even for the wall to look right.
